The Silent Companions

A solid page-turner that managed to helped me escape my reading slump. It was hard to put down Laura Purcell's gothic tale. However, the story was not as scary as I expected it to be. Atmosphere was thick, writing is very contemporary. For a gothic genre one would expect a more flowery writing but Laura Purcell's writing is sharp, to the point and clear, which I like. If you like atmospheric gothic horror on the lighter side and looking for a quick page turner, I recommend checking out this novel.
