I generally enjoy this author's writing a lot, and I really liked her book PITCH DARK which I would classify as being along the same lines as this book. Unfortunately, this one didn't grab my attention as well as that book. I found it to be way too long and slow moving. Part of the problem was that I figured out the big twist very early on which then made certain aspects bothersome for me. None of which I can get into without spoiling the entire book. Let's just say I found certain situations a bit far-fetched and contrived.
That said, it wasn't a bad book either. The writing was excellent. The plot was unique in its setup. The characters well developed and had good chemistry. There were a lot of twists and turns that I am sure will shock the hell out of many a reader. Last, it ended in a very satisfactory way.
So yea, a bit of a mixed bag with this one. I'm going to chalk it up to my mood lately as I seem to be struggling to connect with a lot of books. When that happens I tend to start getting extremely critical of small issues that would honestly probably not bother anyone else. AKA Cora and the fact that it is never addressed that Luca cheated on Jules the entire time she was in a coma. Now obviously he had no memory of her or of their marriage, so I should really give the guy a break (I tried) but considering how disgusted he was at his brother for being with OW when he thought HE was married to Jules (and she was in a coma), I would have expected at least some anguish, or at the very least some guilt when he realized that he was manipulated into cheating on his wife for seven years.. But it is never brought up. Anyway, these are just MY feelings, so please make sure to give a few other reviews a read before deciding whether this book is for you or not. ;D
