Reliable Ibbotson quality. She is like Astrid Lindgren, hates when children and animals get hurt, and she “saves” them by writing a good ending to the stories.
Warning for sensitive readers: some animal abuse. A spaniel get burned badly and loses his leg, tail and eye - a horse gets somewhat abused as well.
