In Thin Air was a book I enjoyed so I needed to continue the series. Two sisters have been kept from the outside world their entire lives. Mama forbids Wren & Sage from contact with anyone; they live in squalor; a cabin without plumbing or water, and food is scarce - only what is grown & livestock they tend. Their clothes are threadbare and they are malnourished.Wren & Sage also have a little sister, Evie, but don't understand how she got there or where she came from. One day she was just there. Then Evie becomes very ill & mama leaves the girls to get medical help for Evie. Months go by & they never return Why did mama leave them to die? Then a male visitor shows up. They don't know him but he seems to know mama. And he has his own plans for the girls. Forced to face their fears of the unknown, they escape into the wilderness of Stillwater forest. From there, Wren & Sage discover that life outside the forest is nothing like mama said. Follow Wren & Sage into new lives that intersect with wonderful people, all willing to help. Even the police are trying to find mama & Evie. But there are secrets and more questions; nothing is clear. Did mama lie to them about their lives? Why would she leave them to die? Who can be trusted in their new world? This was one book that I really wish was a movie because honestly this was a great read. The story was written well and I will be doing more Minka Kent in the future. The writing is smooth and enjoyable five starts all the way. .
