I just finished The surgeon by Leslie Wolfe..
Anne has it all. The career, the husband.. having never lost a patient on the table was the pinnacle of her career... until the day her latest patient's heart just won't start. 23 mins is all she gives it when she finally sees his face and she calls time of death without trying to revive him. She knows him and he got what he deserved....
This book was a slow burn but it was a good slow burn. I thought the plot was very clever and well executed. I have to admit, I didn't see the twists coming. I thought the ending was really quite clever and the writing was lucid and it flowed really well.
What didn't I like... the characters were one dimensional. They had no depth to them at all. This book could have been exceptional had the character development had been there but there was nothing of substance there. I think the author was going for a plot heavy book but it didn't quite work for me.
I still really enjoyed the book though. If you like psychological thrillers, add this one to your tbr!
4 stars. Thank you to @netgalley @bookouture for my review copy.
