The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher

The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher

2008 • 385 pages

This was a very cool book to read, as I have mentioned in other reviews I love books that are chucked full of little tidbits of information, like the origin of the word “clue”, quotes from other writers of the time and how they were inspired by Road Hill killing, things of that nature, and this book has those in spades! The author has obviously done her research. That being said, I think the blurb describing the book can be a bit miss leading. I was expecting more of a murder type mystery book, but this is more of a history of police work and crime in Victorian time's and it's effect on the literature of the time, still extremely interesting though!
