The Sweet Gum Tree

I can't understand all of the glowing reviews for this book. The author's use of foreshadowing drove me crazy and the entire plot revolved around a dreaded Big Misunderstanding that could have easily been resolved if the hero and heroine talked to each other like rational human beings instead of jumping to conclusions and flying off the handle. Comparisons between this book and Deborah Smith's beloved A Place to Call Home are laughable. This book isn't close to being in APTCH's league.
