The United States of Delirium

I have an intense fascination with endurance sports. My friend came back from a 3 months cycling tour in the States declaring he would someday get together friends to make a crew and do the RAAM. This makes me wonder what the appeal of the enormous amount of suffering involved in cycling on 90 mins of sleep every day for 7-9 days has (maybe I just love my sleep.) I was pissed the women who race were given a 2 page chapter. Poor form.
