Things just got intense.
I love The Walking Dead, but this should have won the Eisner for best continuing series, hands down.
Philosophical reflections on the nature and power of stories.
A delightfully snarky jab at midichlorians.
Adventure! Intrigue! Violence!
A nested choose-your-own-adventure story, that returns back to philosophy and deep thoughts about the value of truth versus stories, and how blurry the line can be between them.
This was a ton of fun, and pulled me in considerably more than the previous book (which was no slouch itself). Highly recommended!
Solid novel. I think this was my favorite volume so far. I love the character development and the tone in this story. It really sets up for the next in the series. Unfortunately, my library doesn't have volume four =( and I'm not sure when I'm going to read what happens to Tommy Taylor and his friends...but I'd definitely recommend this series to Harry Potter fans who also love comics.
Fantastic read. Advances the main plot (the 14th Tommy Taylor book is revealed! Will it live up to the hype of the series?), balanced with some worldbuilding that both tells more about the shadowy cabal that and trying to ruin Tom's life, and asks more questions about them. Tells the origin of a character through a Choose Your Own Adventure story, which seems like a gimmick but also can work as a commentary on the grammar of modern comics and/or the relationship between subjectivity and ‘canon'. Has characters revealed to be multiple people, depending on how one looks at them.
It might be that I haven't been reading many comics lately, but this really hit the spot for me.
