This trade paperback edition is a fully annotated reprint of the 1928 publication by London, K. Paul Trench, Trubner. This book contains a detailed account of Vampires, their lives and loves written by Montague Summers, a catholic priest who truly believed in their existence. This edition also contains footnotes, extensive quotations in the original languages, and references to rare source documents. Beware of other editions that do not contain this information. Of particular interest and perhaps relevance is the final chapter, which Summer traces the development of the vampire craze in 19th century literature. This is a perfect source to go along with academic readings such as Dracula or to study modern mainstream television and cinematic treatment of the Vampire genre.
