I want to like this book. The second of the Spearman Series is better than the first book, truth be told. It's funnier, cuter (cue rolling eyes) and then some.
I like the easy, direct banter between Eileen and Jason, the camaraderie, the chemistry. I like that her family is so fucked up, I mentally picture running a truck over her whole family, especially the big sister.
But then, the author had to sneak in a whole chapter of a sex scene towards the end. Look, I get it, Eileen and Jason are good together, they're hot for each other. I'm not a prude (I read historical romance, fgs), really, but that one chapter kinda spoiled it for me. But that's just me.
An easy, quick reading, this one.
