Wow, what a digestible read for adults and kids to discuss complex topics in an easy way! You could finish this easily in one sitting. You should read it, like now!
I love how many topics are touched on, the activity questions throughout, the gorgeous illustrations, the highlighted important words/language to learn along with a glossary of clear concise definitions. I love learning how to be a better ally and use terms correctly, understanding where they came from in the first place.
There is such rich history behind the names listed, the sad dark racial history in this world, and the brief mention of historical events along with engaging historical photography of folx of the Global Majority.
I cried while reading this book. I needed this read when I was going through an awful period in my life; this book gave me affirmation that I didn't receive from people around me.
I'm excited to keep this one on the coffee table.
I wish they taught this book in high school, it should be required reading.
Thank you Tiffany Jewell and Aurélia Durand for creating such an engaging read. Your words and imagery really resonate with me, and encourage me to be a better ally to dismantle systemic racism.
