Thomas Wildus and the Book of Sorrows

Can a Middle Grade Fantasy remind you of so many other favorite series, but also be nothing like them at the same time? I'm gonna go with yes!

This book sets the beginning for a new adventurous series based around young magicians. I'm curious to see what the author does with the next book and the characters, there's clearly more to discover about their abilities and of course Thomas' dad.
