I'm in love. I've turned a new leaf and now I read slow burn fantasy romances? I didn't have this on my 2024 bingo card. I adored this story. I loved the pacing and tension, it led me not fretting over the lack of spicy and over all love development. Helena was a strong ass human who has been used as vessel for the vampires, quickly into the story she is tasked with mission of gaining the dragon lord powers and returning.

While on this mission, she finds her self hated by the dragon horde, unfortunately caring for the object of her mission, and finding a lovely side character in the form of the rock. When the spicy came, my cheeks were burning. That rose scene had a girl gasping for air. I wish wish wish we got to see some more possessive moments and acts of care from Maliq. Such a solid read.
