Tom Thomson, esquisses du printemps
Tom Thomson, esquisses du printemps
When I went to my partner's family cottage for the first time I stood on outcropping near the lake with a wind twisted pine tree next to me and exclaimed “I feel like I'm in a Group of Seven painting!” And indeed, Thompson spent a lot of time in Algonquin park, on the Canadian Shield in Ontario, sketching similar scenes to what I saw that day. The art in this book is gorgeous. Thompson's death at such a young age tragic. (I thought Emily Carr was a part of the Group of Seven era but apparently this book thinks she comes after?)
