Does what it says on the cover - all you would need to know for your trans-asia motoring travel, were you to travel back in time to 1976.
Without timetravel however, it is simply reminiscing of a simpler time, when Afghanistan, Syria and Iran were welcoming and enjoyable to travel in, when petrol was cheap (75p a gallon! )and when there were no cellphones, no email and no GPS.
Interestingly the newfangled navigation gadget of the time was called Cruiserfix, which was sort of a land based sextant, that claimed to be able to fix your location “within a few miles, anywhere on land, sea or in the air”.
