That was so good. Just so very good. Like the last three - well plotted, with good character development from a fascinating cast of characters. This time most of the mythology is Native American (specifically Navajo) instead of Norse or Celtic, but there's a little spice from other traditions thrown in as well. And as before, there are always consequences getting involved, even in good causes. I think that's one of the biggest ways this series reminds me of the Dresden Files by [a:Jim Butcher 10746 Jim Butcher http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1205261964p2/10746.jpg].I am absolutely going to be on tenterhooks until Trapped is released!
These books just do not “click” for me. The protagonist is too flip. Everything is very pat. The stakes don't seem to matter. I dunno. I think I'm just going to have to give up on this series.
Another amazing book from Kevin Hearne! This book was full of action, but also the humor is great. I laughed out loud a few times. Atticus is trying to disappear, but it just doesn't happen the way he wants it to. Join Atticus, Oberon, and Granuaile for another crazy adventure! I will be devastated when this series is over! I'm just getting over the end of The Hollows. Ugh!!
Atticus is back with a bang (several, actually), man, I forgot just how fun this dude can be. This book picks up right where the last left us–and all the zowie plotlines–so from page 1, Atticus & co. are in the middle of several problems, there's no waiting around for a chapter or so to establish things.
Again, Hearne doesn't just deal with one people's pantheon–Tricked is a mashup of Irish, Norse and Navajo stories (with a side order of several representatives from other continents). Not to mention a returning cast of urban fantasy monsters, and plain ole humans. Of course, Oberon gets time to shine after being absent for so much of Hammered, and he steals every scene he's in.
Great story, well-paced, dynamite action and strong character development throughout. Great, great read.
