The way the trilogy ended didn't really do the story justice. The great build-up in the second book kinda get slowed by the not-so-satisfying ending. I'm not really into the mixture of fantasy and science fiction genres but the quality of writing itself as well the emotional scenes made up an extra star for my lack of interest.
The ending was somewhat unresolved as it created more questions than answers. I just realised that a fourth book, the Legacy of the Darksword, had been published to try to provide a better ending. I haven't read that one. But as a trilogy, the third book could've been better in terms of closure.
