Not a HUGE fan of this cover. The composition isn't that great, and the dude looks like he is stretched out lengthwise. On a positive note, I do like the yellow on the grey.
This one was OK. I enjoyed it for the most part. I have been thinking of trying this series out but was hesitant to go all in with a full-length book, so this seemed to be a good option (novella). And like I said, I enjoyed it. It was pretty decently written (if a bit too insta) and paced. The plot was engaging (but underdeveloped) and kept me turning the pages. That said, this seemed to be part of an ongoing storyline, and after reading this book and then checking out who the characters are from book one, I would suggest NOT reading this one if you haven't read the previous books. I was a little gobsmacked by the events talked about at the beginning of this one, and because of that, I won't be reading any of the full-length books.
As for the characters, I liked them. Bear was great. At first, I didn't think I would like Scarlett, but she grew on me. It was good. It was super short. It was a bit underdeveloped and could have used much more fleshing, but I generally think most novellas tend to be. This one gets a thumbs up from yours truly.
