A powerful read that succinctly shows the power Black athletes had (and have) to speak out for social change, and the forces they were (and are) up against. A great book for sporty teens but also for non-sporty folks (like myself) to be reminded of the positive impact sports can have. Some mild religious talk in here but it doesn't come across as preachy so much as simply something that was a big part of Smith's life and community.
