Such an incredibly difficult book for me to rate. On the pro's side, I love the idea behind it. I'm a huge fan of superhero stories and it's obvious, with all the tropes this author is too, and I especially love the supervillain and the superhero falling in love. So, I definitely love the idea behind this. Also, when the story isn't focusing on Night Terror and Fialux's ‘relationship' it is a lot of fun.
On the con's side is the fact that there's little beyond physical attraction between these two for 3/4 plus of the book. Every time Night Terror is around Fialux, she's obsessing about her looks and there is no time spent on page deepening that to something more before the ‘I think I've been in love with you from the start' & ‘I fell in love at first sight with you' which are things I really, really hate. (Also, this book needs an editor because there are a few obvious typos and some formatting issues.) And the big ‘twist?' Painfully obvious and made me think Night Terror wasn't really all that genius-y.
Now for something that I can't decide if it was a pro or a con: Fialux is Supergirl. No, I mean, seriously, she's an alien from another planet that's been on this world long enough to use colloquial language, she's got flight, super speed, super strength, lasers shooting out of her eyes...and glasses is enough to throw off the best facial recognition software. I don't know if I like that or not, all I know is that when Night Terror talked about gorgeous red hair and green eyes, that wasn't the mental image I got.
