We Are Called to Rise

Laura McBride's debut (!!!) novel has touched me so deeply. I want her to write a sequel, a fifteen book series about these characters. I love them all so much, I feel like they are my friends now. I just want to re-read this over and over to stay with these people. Bashkim and Avis and Roberta and Luis... They are written so well, so individually, so thoughtfully.

Also, there's a page that changed the whole book. I stopped reading and gasped and screamed a bit and then jumped around my living room.

Laura McBride, you are a literary genius and I would pay you to write books for me every day.
