~WRITING - PLOT - PACE~
So I'll be honest I am a little unsure of how I want to rate this book. I enjoyed it immensely that is for sure. The writing was fan-f-cking-tastic. The pace was perfect. The plot was thoroughly engaging and had hooked from the first page. That said, there were a few things that niggled me a little. I needed a bit more clarification in regard to Beau and if he was with OW after the first time he saved Lex and during the couple's one year apart. one year separation at the end. Honestly though, those were just small little issues that didn't deter THAT much from my enjoyment of the story overall.
~HERO~
BEAU...I pretty much loved him. He was sexy. He was alpha. He was damaged. He was tortured. He was bada\(. I didn't particularly care for the decision he made near the end, but overall he was a good hero.
~HEROINE~
LEX...I ADORED her character. She was strong. She was a fighter. She was feisty. She was bada\). She was a great friend. She wore her heart on her sleeve. My heart broke for her many a time and I thought she should have made Beau grovel WAY more before she let him back into her life again.
~SECONDARY CHARACTERS~
Honestly, there wasn't a TON of secondary characters in this one. I was intrigued by Dolores. Tensley and Molly make small appearances. There were a couple of intriguing guys at The Pit (Jackson and Steel). Mostly the book was main character driven.
~HEAT LEVEL~
Low. This kind of bummed me out. This was a bit of a slow burn with no sex until 65% into the book. Which like I said was a bit disappointing as the story held potential for some really smokin' hot and kinky sex. That's not to say the sex we do get was boring, but “I” would have liked a bit more in that department. In any case, this couple did have AMAZING on page sexual chemistry. So again, just me being picky (lol).
~ANGST LEVEL~
Medium. I found this book a lot less angsty than I did the books with Molly and Tensley. There is some pushing away from Beau, but nothing overly annoying. There wasn't any OW or OM drama. But like I mentioned above I needed some solid clarification on whether Beau had sex with OW after the first time he saved Lex and during the year long separation. Clarified by the author (who is a TOTAL sweetheart...jut saying. ;D) Most people won't care, but I am in a super picky mood as of late. So c'est la vie (lol).
~IN THE END~
Like I said, I pretty much LOVED this one. Yes, it had a few little issues that detracted from my enjoyment overall. But they were mainly “ME” issues and ones that most people won't find problematic at all. This author is an amazing writer, and this book was an amazing book. Therefore yours truly is going to give this one two solid thumbs up and I can't wait to get my hands on whatever Miz Scarlett has up her sleeve for us next.
