The illustration are nicely done, but I don't like the story.

I know parenting was done differently in the past, but giving the punishment of not having dinner isn't related to the child's bad behavior. It is clear to me that the child would not have learned anything, except to think that his parents are mean. Also, giving a punishment and not doing it will not teach a child to be held responsible for his behavior. To love unconditionally does not mean to accept bad behavior.

I know very well that we don't always want to teach children lessons in books, but I see a counter-lesson in this one: ‘you can do what you want and no one is going to hold you accountable for your actions ‘.

Out of curiosity, I had my daughter read it without telling her my opinion and she answered me: ‘I don't like it, the boy is not nice to the dog'.
