Absolutely glorious read that I managed in 3 days - exactly what I needed after the funk of my failed 2020 reading challenge. The story of a wild girl in a small town and the journey taken by a disgraced and damaged child psychologist to fix her may have been predictable but thoroughly engaging, and that's all I ever ask for.

Interested to read so many negative reviews, comparing it to Hannah's other works and finding it lacking. I have The Nightingale in my bookshelf, so clearly I am in for a treat.
