Wings of Thunder

Wings of Thunder is the second book in The Thunderbird Legacy. I absolutely fell in love with the first one, Eyes of Lightning, so I was waiting impatiently to read this one. It does not disappoint. It is fabulous!

The characters have a natural trajectory and growth that is refreshing to read in the Young Adult genre. The plot is not drawn out unnecessarily. She gets to the point and the characters grow because of their experiences. There is more than one book and book series that I have put down because the characters or the plot became unbearable. Erin Keyser Horn does not let that happen, which is one of the reasons, I love her books so much.

There is much pain and growing that Ivy must do in this book. However, Horn does an amazing job of distancing of keeping the reader a comfortable distance from the pain. It never gets so overwhelming that one would have to put the book down. Her ability to write pain without being overwhelmed by it. It reminds me of The Hobbit that way.
