A lovely holiday treat for fans of Albert's “Portland Heat” series. Hollis' sister is married to Sawyer's twin brother, and the two men have been friends since youth, with a drunken kiss at their siblings' wedding the only sign that they could be something more. Now they run competing stationery and gift stores and view the approaching holidays with opposite reactions. The holidays are hard for Hollis, whose parents died in a skiing accident two years ago, but the exuberant Sawyer is determined to un-Scrooge him with visits to some of Portland's favorite holiday sights. When the chemistry between them explodes, and the quiet unassuming Hollis turns out to have an unexpected kinky side, the holidays start to look much more inviting.
Wrapped Together is predictable but sweet, with two likeable MCs, an adorable moppet (Hollis and Sawyer's niece) and a minimum of angst despite Hollis' reluctance to open his heart. Perhaps in response to the lukewarm response to the one of the MCs in the previous Portland Heat book, Knit Tight, there are several cameo appearances by Brady and Evren, as if to reassure the skeptical readers that that they really did live HEA. (Aside: Frankly I thought Ev was a perfectly fine MC; he had very specific ideas about what he wanted sexually and was never dishonest about his preferences, and although he may never have said I love you to Brady, his actions spoke louder than words. End of aside).
This may not be the strongest entry in the series, but it is perfect for the season and will tide readers over until the next book is released in March 2017.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
