Excellent. I do not identify as Latinx, and so I questioned if this book was for me. It was. It's so important as a ally to know what's going on, and this book did that for me. Excellently written, educational, powerful. We need to do better.
This book is a great contemporary read about the struggles of what it takes to be “American.” Arce does a great job of showcasing her struggles of self-acceptance and her journey to reaching and rejecting becoming “enough” for her white counterparts. I learned so much for Arce, and I appreciate her efforts in cementing our unknown history.
