Books I needed as a kid

My mother read many children's books to me, but now I realize there were books I truly needed as a child. There were concepts I could have learned, ideas that were never defined in my world. I could have related to the children who were the main characters in those stories. But only now do I notice them. It's like when I read a book and realize it’s exactly what I needed—something I didn’t even know I was missing before.
