See allThis was a first from this author. The story started a bit slow, but picked up at a satisfying pace. Pacing was consistent and then got better as the book went along. The author’s writing is really on point and it keeps you engaged and informed the whole time. Story is told in dual POV in a past and present format. It can be confusing at first, but you quickly get the hang of it.
The storyline was interesting and engaging. I found the world building unique. It centers around a political war between the magistrates in the city. This book is Romantasy, but I’d say it’s centered around Gods/goddesses, politics, and power. Tensions are high and the characters are fighting for power and their lives. I haven’t read anything like this so it was very refreshing to see something different. The characters were interesting and I loved the main characters dynamic. I was rooting for them the whole time.
This story is a clean YA/NA romance so there are no in-depth spicy scenes or foul language. (What is in there is very toned down.) There is a lovely forbidden romance trope that I absolutely loved.
I am really intrigued and hoping there’s more to this story (book 2). I want to see what the future holds for our main characters. It’s almost like you get to know them and the book ends. With the way it ended, it did lead me to believe there is more to the story. I honestly can’t wait for more! I will be ready when the author puts it out.
I listened to the audiobook and narration was good. Narrators were perfect. This is a dual narration audiobook. Roughly 11 hrs listening time.
A rockstar on a path to destruction and a chance meeting with her limo driver....
I would give this 6 stars if I could!
This story is one that absolutely surprised me in all the best ways. Kacey is a rockstar who is on a shaky path. Jonah is the limo driver. After a particular night takes Kacey in to his home: This evening changes everything. But Jonah is on a deadline and they are running out of time.
This story is beautiful and heartbreaking, but also filled with heartwarming and funny moments. I loved their relationship and their banter. This book is so wonderfully written. It had a way of drawing you in where you feel apart of the story and feel the emotions deep in your soul.
The narrators were great. Each one did a wonderful job narrating the characters. Audio quality was great.
Thank you so I NetGalley, RBmedia, and Emma Scott! Gah! I want to listen to this again!
This book deserves more than 5 stars!
This book.....what can I say? Devastating, emotional, haunting, soul shattering, soul mending, beautifully written....I could go on and on.
I was so utterly happy to get to review this second installment of this series. It had my heart in stitches and then mended it in the best ways. I laughed, I ached, I squeed with delight, cheered, cried uncontrollably and felt every emotion the characters did. This book made me FEEL like no book has in a long long time. That's a testament to the author and the narrators for a wonderful job well done. I have a personal experience with some of the themes of this book. It has touched me and healed parts I didn't know needed mending. So thank you to Ms Scott.
I just finished it 5 minutes ago and I am still a sobbing mess. This is probably in my top 3 books I've read this year. I won't forget it anytime soon.  And dare I say, I've collected a new book boyfriend
I had seen so many reports here about how good this book was. I started reading and only got to Chap 6 before I had to put it down! No, the similarities to 50 Shades didn't bother me...it was the LANGUAGE!!! Shame on Ms Day for writing such a crude book! It was extremely raunchy and offensive with the language. I'm no prude, but I can't handle all the F and C words she used. HORRIBLE!!!!! I'll stick with 50 Shades which in my opinion was alot better read.
