Its very clear that the author was tired of writing Resident Evil books at this point. An adaptation of the weakest game from the era, yet the one that sticks to the source material the hardest.
The writing is clunky, the sentence structure and word choices are just baffling, the only explanation for such an experienced writer having prose this poor is exasperation.
The start had me optimistic, but that slowly changed to apathy. The last quarter is a total slog, but hey, it is in the game too, followed by a rushed, limp, completely unsatisfying ending. This could have been decent if only any of this was well paced or had any application of narrative weight.
Definitely not the worst video game adapation ever considering the standards of the genre, but a real shame. Quality over accuracy any day.
