So I spoiled this book for myself since I have seen the Studio Ghibli version of this and I fell in love with this animated movie but this book. I just loved it so much and can't wait to continue the series with this one. I don't physically own this at the time of writing this review but I am now looking to purchase it so I can reread in the future. I think my kids would love this one.
So I haven't read the return yet but this one was my first experience with Rachel Harrison and I am hooked. I want to get all the books and absorb her writing and story telling further :). So good loved sophie and wished there was more cursing etc but it was good and will be doing a reread soon. perfect for my Summerween readathon.
I realize I'm far too old for this one. I just hated many of the characters for how racist they were and the drama was a typical dance life situation. I can appreciate the authors for the diverse backgrounds of each characters and I felt for Gigi throughout but just not my thing anymore. got through it but will be getting this off my shelf since its done.
Okay I can't believe I had this on my shelf and how go this duology is!! I loved this one just as much as I loved the first one. I am absolutely hooked to Marie Lu's writing and want to take in more. Hands down the whole duology is 5 stars across the board for me. I loved how this story progressed and the ending of it. Just everything I look for in a scifi book
This has been sitting on my shelf for over 3 years and Oh man what a hidden gem that sat there all these years. Why is no one talking about this series? The characters are fantastic and I loved the pacing of this first book. I'm eager to continue this Trilogy. Definitely one to reread in the future and keep on my shelf.
What can i say about this one aside from how flippin cool this one was. I loved the unique concept and I loved that it was like a hunger games esque SCIFI mix which I didn't think was possible but this exists and loved it. Writing was great. Characters were great. Just couldn't put this one down. Read this for HRCYED 2.0 and glad this was on my shelf so I can reread in the future.
Okay the shocking gasp of a 2 star rating from me. So I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE! when mystery/thriller/authors in general do this ring around the characters of omg it could have been them. omg it could have been this person....Oh look out for this person they could be the new guilty person. I just hate it. I was so pissed when i predicted cause I had multiple theories and it ultimately ended up being my first theory. I know this book was talked about A LOT and I'm so so disappointed it turned into a book i disliked. I am unhauling the remaining of the series because its definitely not for me. There were sooooo many instances of Pip the main character should have gotten caught for what she was doing and how somehow it was a miracle for escaping LOL. just so many things i could rip into but hey not my cup a tea but definitely others cup of tea.
So i've read romeo and juliet in high school and have to say this was a pretty good retelling with influences of chinese mythology. definitely was having a hard time sticking with it in some parts since some parts dragged for me but overall was a pretty good retelling and would recommend it out to others.
Why didn't i pick this one up sooner! fantasy and Mechs!?! I felt like I was in a version of gundam. I want to reread immediately because i feel there was so much I wasn't able to absorb because I was just eager to read the next page. If you are into mech wars and fantasy scapes this is definitely a book you need to pickup.

I thought my family had issues. HOLY MOLY!?! LOL. Some of the twists were so predictable ope going to blame this sibling, ope next up the other sibling, ope I suddenly have a half sister lol. Ope daughter that was having issues with conceiving finally gets her moment. Giving it a three star cause most of the twists were me shaking my head and said I KNEW IT. But the level of drama and suspense to find out who really did it was like holy crap to me. Will i ever pick this book up again nope. Will i recommend this book if someone is looking for something quick yeah definitely took me less than a day to get through and I'm the slowest reader around. Did i feel like I was watching a episode of rich people issues absolutely but that ending I was laughing cause i had this gut feeling there was going to be 3 final twists in the last 40 pages of the books and definitely called it. If you like a crazy bendy book check this one out. I'm thankful for the local free little library for having this one in there.
I was so disappointed in the ending. There are so many questions that left unanswered with this one but this was a quick, page turner. I feel there is so much more left with this story and ultimately why i gave 3 stars but i was so anxious to find out what was within the house. May reread in the future but for now glad i picked this one up. Malerman definitely knows how to bring on the creepy and suspenseful moments. 👏👏👏
NOW THAT WAS A GOOD BOOK! Holy moly! I hated dolls and puppets before but I hate them even more now LOL. What a wild book but this is my first one of grady hendrix and now I'm just as hooked as I am to Riley Sager books. If you are looking for a good book to scare the crap out of you read this one!. The Audiobook is AMAZING bravo to the narrator
This one just wasnt for me. I was bummed cause i love a good book about creating video games etc and the book slay by morris was absolutely fantastic along with ready player one and ready player two. But this one just hit too many real world issues and i really needed an escape from those issues for a hot minute. I am glad there is something to talk about these topics but it was just not great timing for me on this one i suppose
At first I am going to be honest but was hesitant of even finishing this when the mention of Covid 19 pandemic and locked down was mentioned in the beginning. I have bad PTSD from that whole period . But this was interesting how it unraveled and that twist made it glad that I finished it. The jumping back and forth was very confusing but the audiobook did help keep track. I wish i didn't redeem this from my Book of the month subscription since I don't plan to reread this again. but overall it was suspenseful, twisty and one and done.
