forgot to record my progress but I loved this book. I had the illustrated version so it was nice to have the graphics along with the story line. I knew martin as a fantasy writer but didn't think scifi was something he hit and he did it well. definitely recommend if you are looking for a quick read in a weekend.
UPDATE 2024: This book is so good I had to reread it. This hasn't happened since the Harry potter series. I could absolutely devour this book over and over again. I love Olivia and Matthew's character arcs. Just so amazing. As i mentioned in my previous review I loved Addie La Rue and I have to see this is my now favorite book of VE Schwab. Who knows I may reread addie la rue but for now I'm super satisfied and this has officially got me out of a reading slump.
I have yet to be disappointed by a schwab book. Her writing is chefs kiss perfection. This story is incredible and i love the representation for non verbal individuals and use of sign language throughout. I was so vested in this from page one and never a single dull detail within this story. The ending was even better than i imagined it with my theories. There is a spooky crimson peak vibe to it but it still feels absolutely unique and original like nothing that has been written before. This is one like addie la rue that ill be treasuring to re read for years to come.
If there was ever a book that would change me it is hands down this one. It was so eloquently written and was exactly what i needed to understand the entire scope of what happened to these families and this town. I have been in the process of creating a behavioral mobile app that will help with detecting patterns in various conditions like asperger's, bipolar depression, ADHD, schizophrenia, and the list continues. This book has given me a new perspective to approach with my already 7 years of work. Im not making this review about me though. This author was brilliant with telling the stories of so many moving parts that happened that day. As i was reading i could see in my head it playing out and while i sobbed uncontrollably in some parts I am thankful i picked up this book. Not only so i can contribute to helping prevent something like this from ever happening again but knowing the warning signs and understanding that chain events that can be prevented in future happenings.
Evanna's story is gut wrench but also a YEAH girl moment. I am so thankful I read this book and though there are many trigger warnings that she does mention at the very beginning of the book I think this was really well written despite the really hard topics being discussed within this book. I haven't been able to read too much but I am so glad I was able to obtain this audiobook and read along with my copy.
As a non romance reader reading this for the first time, i thought this was a overhyped series that needs to stop being recommended to the book world. I love high fantasy and fantasy that falls into lord of the rings the hobbit the wheel of time etc. but this book in particular has really pulled me in. Why is no one talking about chapter 54 when all they talk about is chapter 55 lol. That cliffhanger at the end too why is no one talking about that!? I am absolutely hooked i love mor, rhys, cassian, azriel and somewhat annoyed with feyre. But when i finished this i loved where this is going. Definitely has a non romance book lover hooked to read till a court of silver ☺️ hands down five stars for gripping me every step of the way the character arcs the world building the beautiful chemistry being built with rhys and feyre. Just chefs kiss amazing.
Wow what a ride this one was. This one had me just as emotional as the four winds. This is such a beautiful story and really loved this one. If there were more stars available i would grant more. Kristin Hannah is one heck of a story teller and overall an amazing historical fiction writer. Everything that I pick up from her from the four winds to this to even the great alone is just perfection. such amazing characters and character building throughout and overall a nail gripper asking for more about the characters and world she builds.
I know there is a ton of hype over this book. But the way that sarah j. maas builds worlds and characters is just chefs kiss perfect. I absolutely loved this one. it had the whole package and the Fae was sooooooo amazing. I listened via audiobook and the narrator was perfect. It honestly made this experience that much better. Can't wait to go further down this series.
I really enjoyed this one. When it comes to nonfiction i love seeing different perspectives on selfhelp etc. I have historically leaned towards brene brown, mark manson, and other influencers. Matt Haig i read his midnight library in the past so this was a nice breathe of change. What a great author and forever glad I listened/read this one. Definitely recommend this one for non fiction readers.
Okay listening on audiobook was a whole other experience. I really loved this this reading session. Loved the way japanese culture was looped in and the poem was haunting. I've read quite a few haunted house books recently but this one had a lot more creepiness to it like Diavola. Definitely recommend it was a really fast listen as well!
