Overall writing was better this book but holy shit the belaboring absolutely wrecks the pacing. Author gotta set a limit on how many times they rehash the same damn thing like ffs bro. These books honestly need to do indexes and links so that if someone forgets who someone is or what an ability is and wants to know they just click the link and don't have to suffer through another power or backstory rehash.

First 4 star.

A lot of points were belabored where he was really belaboring the point that he was making in a repetitive way that felt belaboring

Also more noticeable editing misses with wrong words and missing words. Pacing got weird after the big fight but that feels like issues of the serial to book transition.

There's something about this writing style that just seamlessly lets me envision the world as I'm reading.
