While I cannot speak to the accuracy of the emotions portrayed by the soldiers in this book, I do think they encapsulate a stirring story. Humanity is starting to figure out how to defeat the enemy aliens which suddenly attacked humanity, and things are not going well. The wide cast of characters gives many points of view into a cohesive and well-balanced story worth reading. Any fan of Science Fiction or Military Fiction will likely enjoy the Blood Wars.
An interesting book, dealing with an old supernatural archetype in a way which I have never before seen. The main character is snatched from Earth after a few centuries of Subjugation by an alien species, taken along for a ride meeting another alien form which changes his outlook on many things.
Most original Vampire myth mixed with an excellently crafted Science Fiction tone.
Timothy Zahn has again given the Star Wars universe another fantastic story. Thrawn is one of the most fascinating characters I have read. While he may be a “bad guy” Thrawn's motivations are easily understood, and to a point, acceptable. Now we finally have the story of Thrawn's early years with the Imperial Navy, from his home in exile to his promotion to Grand Admiral, and the wait was worth it.
In the midst of all my other books, I had forgotten how much I enjoy this series. Lucas is, again, digging, thinking, driving towards finding answers to his question. The usage of interpersonal tactics and intelligence to solve a mystery is again well done by John Sandford. Again, Lucas has grown as a character through this book, adding to the growth from the brash young hothead in book one until now.
A third of this book was fantastic, two thirds was Anita dealing with her dysfunctional relationships. As always the non-relationship parts of the book are interesting and fun, the other part however. While Hamilton writes a good story, in an interesting take on the supernatural world, perhaps a little less relationship horse crap would be appreciated. Kill Asher already.
As with all of Sandford's novels, I enjoyed it. His story lines are complex, fun, and well thought out. Granted there is always the required suspension of disbelief but what good novel doesn't have that?
Davenport's character keeps growing in new a different ways, which is for me, quite a unique experience. Anyone who is looking for an exciting thriller series should seriously consider reading all of these books.
