A favorite of mine - a little slow at first but then it draws you in. Made me want to visit Eastern Europe.

This book was so cute, I just loved it. Everything turns out right in the end but somehow it manages not to be sappy.

Although this book deals with some weighty relationship issues, it is a cute and easy read. Also particularly fun if you live in South Minneapolis, where the book takes place.

Really loved the first half. I felt like the characters changed so much in the second half, almost to an unbelievable degree. But still a good read.

If you like poker, you probably will appreciate this book. But it wasn't for me.

Interesting story told from the perspective of an autistic boy. You can really empathize with his confusion.

Unlike most books, I could never form a picture of what the main character looked like.

Too long for too little payoff. Why Tom Wolfe thinks he can write from the perspective of a young girl from the South is beyond me. He needs to stick to subjects can identify with.

This book was terrible! So drippy. I had to skim to get to the end.

A quick an interesting read. Rasputin is an intriguing character, and this novel is told from the perspective of his daughter. A good summer book!

Quick summer read, light.

Entertaining read. Good book club book.

My book club read this one because it was a local author. He spoke at our meeting, and was charming, but I didn't even want to stay and have him sign the book. Not very well written.

I couldn't finish this one. It's supposed to be a biography, but the author goes into explicit detail regarding what Gertrude Bell felt, thought, looked like, etc - it was just too much for me.

What more is there to say, is there anyone who hasn't read this book by now?

I love books that are told from the perspective of a character who is somewhat of a detached observer.

Great Fitzgerald book. Fun to read if you are from Minnesota. The thoughts and feelings expressed are relevant today even though the book was written in 1920.

I really enjoy books that take place in Africa, and this was a good one to get a feel for living in Nigeria (although the psychotic father is hopefully not typical).

After having read (and loved) The Poisonwood Bible, I was kind of disappointed with this book.

This book is hilarious - definitely recommended.

Interesting characters, although not necessarily the type you can readily identify with. But well worth reading.

This novel really captures the culture and realities of life in Africa. Even though the book is set in the 60s, not much seemed to have changed between then and my time there in the 90s. Scary.

Not really getting the excitement around this book...
