I think the premise of the story is super interesting and that's why I continued listening to the end. I'm not sure why I expected anything other than some smarter than everyone else around him boy becoming a hero while he is praised by nearly every adult he comes in contact with, even those that he's in opposition with.
I am in absolute love with this book. Since reading Hairstyle of the Damned Joe Meno has become one of my favorite authors. When I say this book last year I didn't have enough to but it but i couldn't pass it up a second time. I read a review, that i feel completely sums this book up fantastically: It will break your heart and then pick up all the pieces and put you back together.
This book was honestly such a hard let down for me. Coming off the the very abrupt ending to the first book I was expected the speed to continue on into this second book. It did not. In fact even though there was a strict due date to this book it seemed the majority of it was spent with the characters not doing much of anything. The level of the relationships also seemed very off to me. It seems some of the ‘doing nothing' time could have been used to make the depth of the relationships seem more believable. Super bummed this book did not live up to the first
This book sucked in me in so quickly. Loved the characters and the family dynamic. Loved the fantasy and magic and level of mystery. The steady uncovering of Bri's family history as it relates to Greek mythology was super unique and interesting. The ending seemed a bit abrupt but over all very enjoyable ready.
