Charlie Holmberg's books have been a toss-up for me. I absolutely LOVED Followed by Frost, but then couldn't finish the Paper Magician series. My husband recommended the Whimbrel House series to me, so I decided to try.
I loved this cozy, clever, heartwarming book! The world, the scenery, the personalities are all so good. I wanted to be there with them. I started the next book the same night after finishing this one, and I don't do that often.
I don't want to leave this world!
TL;DR I loved it and can't wait for the next book!
I'm a huge fan of Jeff Wheeler. I LOVED the Kingfountain and Muirwood series/worlds, but in full disclosure, didn't care much for the Harbinger and Grave Kingdom series and remember very little about them. Because those were the last two series I read, I wasn't sure how The Invisible College (world) would go.
I was hooked right away. I love this new world! I honestly have no idea how there will be a resolution and love the extra sci-fi-ness of it (in addition to magic, of course). I was so disappointed when I got to the Epilogue, knowing the next book wasn't yet available.
But. Every time the character from the first chapter appeared, I got a little annoyed because I didn't care about him and wanted to get back to the other characters. He has an interesting role to play in the story, though!
I don't know yet if this series will live in my heart the way Kingfountain and Muirwood do, but it's a world I like being in and want to read more about it.
