The name definitely says it all, although maybe meet cringe might be more accurate. Lol.
I felt for every character, even if that feeling is absolute disgust (I'm looking at you SpoilerLinda. I mean, ugh. Girl!. Emme was such a sweetheart who didn't deserve half of what life threw at her, and yet she didn't let it break her spirit. Kailyn and Dax 😍 and their extremely complicated relationship and history made the final moments of the book that much better.
You should all pick this one up because despite all the ups and downs that these characters face you can't help but smile at just how cute they are together. Plus, it's a quick read, what more can you ask for in a novel?
Well...that certainly wasn't the neatly wrapped up happily ever after (even if it's day by day) that I was hoping for. It did however convince me to read [bc:Someday 26309873 Someday (Every Day, #3) David Levithan https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1517896364s/26309873.jpg 46309160] because I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS to A and Rhiannon and SpoilerNathan and the Reverend and, and, and...! Gah!I can say that I do like his writing style and will definitely be picking up more from this author in the future. Hopefully they don't all leave me on the brink.
There is very little about this man's life that I can relate too, I've been born in a time and place too far removed from his reality. But the things that I do connect to, resonate.
To know that he came from such soul crushing circumstances, and still managing to have philosophies such as ‘cast your bucket where you are', never let someone damage your soul by hating them, to help others (even when he barely had enough to help himself)...well, if it's possible for him then it should be for me as well.
He inspires me to try to be a better me.
And just like that, it's over... I'll miss it, but finally, the suspense is over.
For much of this book SpoilerEva and Bhodie frustrated me to no end. I kept wanting to shake them or throw them off a cliff in B's case..
I'm satisfied with the way it ended. The SpoilerEkt finally took their heads out of their asses and helped clean up the mess that they started, and thank God they took back those robots. Nothing good would have come from leaving it there, that much is obvious..
3.5
This one definitely starts off slow and had me rolling my eyes, ready to dismiss it as another overhyped popular book. But, it redeems itself well in the end.
Rachel is the epitome of an unreliable narrator to the point that it could become frustrating. Her actions never really make sense without all of the information to back it up. Yet, it works, as it makes the conclusion better for it.
Didn't think the whole thing would have ended quite like it did, which was great. SpoilerTom is a sick man and death is the only thing that would have truly stopped him. I'm also glad that Anna didn't throw Rachel to the wolves after all.
Thoroughly entertaining. Now I must watch the adaptation!
Howl is an old curmudgeon, but so is Sophie, and I love it.
I especially love how things were tied up in the end. Makes me need more of the two of them, together. Definitely, wish I had discovered this during my childhood, but alas...it is what it is.
Ugh...Jamie is an idiot. Okay, now that I've said that, I can talk about the book.
Darcy and Tom's relationship could give you whiplash. One minute they're so flirtatious it can rock your heart but then the next...ice. I liked their dynamic though, how protective they both are of each other, in the ways that only each of them are capable of being.
I wished that SpoilerJamie wasn't so much of a douche to Darcy through pretty much the entire book. But, I did like seeing him vulnerable when he thought Tom wasn't coming back, or that he would be cut out of the group. There needed to be more of that. For sure..
I'm also just noticing the day that I finished reading this one. I wonder if that had anything to do with my rating. I'm such a sap.
How is that the way this ends???
Ok, I've had some time and I'm still not sure if I've just read a ghost story, a story of an overactive imagination or a story about a very cruel town and an extremely odd family.
Uncle Julien is my favorite character by a mile and I don't know if that's any accomplishment because Merricat is selfish and Constance lives in a bubble. Cousin Charles...? Why? Why do we need him?
Read this if you will. I could've skipped it and my life would be no different. Meh.
😳
This book... It keeps you gripped until the very last page. Everyone's a suspect, they can and will betray you at the first opportunity and murder is a guarantee.
Our MC is a determined man, I'll give him that and that determination drives this novel at an unrelenting pace.
Definitely read this!
Also, how do I experience these twists for the first time, all over again?
My nerveeees.
SpoilerI still think Stell didn't suffer enough. Neither did Eli for that matter. And I really didn't like how annoying Sydney was in this. Like girl, don't be stupid. Serena was not good for you and June is even worse. Stick with those who stuck with you!
What the hell was that message from Victor at the end??? Gah! What a tease!
I really would pay money to see this on a screen somewhere. Who can I talk to about making that happen????
I already want more! More Jacob, more Cassidy, even more Lara (even though in the beginning I didn't trust her). SpoilerI need to know Jacob's story and his true motives. I really hope Cassidy doesn't end up getting hurt by his friendship
It's clear that I love anything that Ms. Schwab writes and I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a wild ride that doesn't intimidate. It's unassuming and offers entertainment, plain and simple.
