My favorite cozy mystery soap opera. Enjoyed this one more than the last one.

This one is a deep dive into the culture of “The Fleet” and follows several characters around in their day to day lives. It's a character study - not much plot to move the story along. Did not enjoy this one as much as the two prior books. I appreciated the extended world building.

I enjoyed this - its a short easy read - but I would have absolutely adored this book in about 4th or 5th grade. Train trip to school should strike a verrrry familiar ring to fans of the Harry Potter books.

Thanks to Archive.org for the free membership and allowing hourly online checkouts of this classic. Bookmarked it in my browser and was easily able to check it out to read when I had a few minutes.

Charming! This has been on my ‘to read' list for ages. I'll be reading it again at some point. Really enjoyed it. Thankful for the hourly borrowing option at Archive.org, as I'd given up finding it in an ebook or audio book.

A little uneven at times, but funny.

I picked this one up thinking it was a cozy mystery. It's not...it's really really not.

It's the ladies of Steel Magnolias + The husbands of Stepford x Joe Hill...emphasis on Hill. Laugh out loud funny at times (Bridges of Madison County goes hilariously sideways at one point) - and then swings like a pendulum into whoamygawd horror.

Loved this. Couldn't put it down. Can't wait to start the next book in the series!

This is a feel-good sci-fi story centered around the multi-species crew. Loved the characters, and really liked the story. The world-building was interesting and engaging.

This isn't your hardcore sexist sci-fi of the 50s & 60s - if you're looking for Asimov or Bradberry, look elsewhere - this isn't going to float your boat. This is more cozy meets Star Trek with a dash of whimsy - and plenty of snacks on hand. If you liked the Illuminae Files series, you'll probably like this.

Excellent! Wish this had been around when I was heading into law school, or while I was in law school, or while I was getting ready to transition from student to practice. Fantastic advice.

Aka “Life With Mother Superior” - this is the book that the Hayley Mills “The Trouble With Angels” is based on. Was surprised how much of the book made it into the movie. Shockingly dated at a few points, but a good read.

Enjoyed this one. Short read. Lots of layers in this one. Society's disparaging view of people who hold jobs in the service industry is one layer. People living on the edge of society and trying to find a place is another. The recent news of Japan's low birthrate and poor work-life balance dilemma added another layer. The book is humorous, but Keiko is unusual, and was never really sure if the book would take a dark turn.

Enjoyed this one as much as the first. It's a fun series.

Well researched biography of Laura Ingalls Wilder and her daughter. No punches are pulled on this one - it's a warts and all tale - but found the background on the story that inspired the books I enjoyed as a child really interesting. Am now interested in rereading the Little House series.

I remember watching this movie as a kid. Really enjoyed the book.

Watched the miniseries and was entranced - immediately put the book into my to-read queue. Took me quite a bit of time to get through it (gads, almost a year!) - but that was due to life's little distractions, and not a ding on the story. Really enjoyed this one - reminiscent of aspects of The Stand without the hard edges - really liked the overall tone of the story and the world building. The mini-series is sufficiently different from the book - that I didn't feel like I necessarily knew where the story was headed. I'll probably read this one again. Thumbs up. Now - am going to watch the mini-series again.

Really interesting premise - but after awhile I found Oona to be a bit humorless and whiny. The character hits her stride - finally - in the last chapter.

Enjoyed most of these (in particular: 20th Century Ghosts, The Black Phone) - and a couple I'm still thinking of several days later (Voluntary Committal, My Father's Mask, Better Than Home).

This was a bit more straight up romance than I usually read. Floofy and entertaining, though. Enjoyed the characters of Josie and Chloe (particularly Chloe's book- magnetism - which is using).

Listened to this one in the car. Took a bit to get rolling, but once I figured out who everyone was and how they were related I really enjoyed it.

Listened to this one in the car. Enjoyed the last quarter of the book as the pace sped up and things were wrapped up. I found parts of the story repetitive. And the ‘she was so very very beautiful' thing got a bit old.

Delightful satire. Listened to the audiobook and it was fantastic.

Really enjoyed the first half...the world building... Second half I grew a little weary of some of the characters...Jack and Jill at that top of that list. Caveat - I listened to this one, and thought it was a good audiobook... But that format can add a layer that isn't present on the page. I probably won't go further into this series.
