When revenge becomes more dangerous than the monster itself
‘What Fury Brings’ pulls readers into a world filled with curses, monsters, and political tension, where rage slowly begins to consume everything in its path. Tricia Levenseller once again delivers a fast paced writing style packed with sharp dialogue and strong female characters, making the story incredibly easy to sink into.
The atmosphere feels darker than expected. The constant sense of danger lingering beneath the surface creates an almost suffocating tension throughout the story. The mystery surrounding the hidden powers and the uncertainty of who can truly be trusted add an intriguing layer to the narrative. The magical world and its dangerous creatures also carry an addictive quality that keeps the pages turning.
Still, the story does not fully hit on every emotional level. At times, the pacing feels rushed, causing certain emotional moments to lose some of their impact. Some plot developments become fairly predictable, and a few characters lack the extra depth needed to truly leave a lasting mark. Especially toward the ending, everything seems to wrap up a little too quickly.
Even so, ‘What Fury Brings’ remains an entertaining fantasy filled with action, magic, and danger, offering enough tension to keep the curiosity alive until the very last page. A story that shines most through its atmosphere and pacing, even when the emotional impact occasionally stays just out of reach.
