The story is good, and so is the writing even though I'm not really a fan of the writing style. I have the same complaint about this one that I did about book 1 - that most of the characters sound the same in the way that they speak and the jokes that they make. Also it was kind of weird how frequently humor was inserted into what should have been really traumatic or emotional situations, so it made it impossible to connect with the characters and their emotions because the jokes kept pulling me right out of it. It was a little jarring and got old quickly.

I hated Andrew in Shawn and Derek's book, but I gotta say, him turning into a needy little bitch in this book really worked for me, and I don't mean that as an insult toward him.

The whole premise is of course ridiculous, but I read Hazard's books more for the characters and smut than the plot.

Realized after I started it that I read it during my GR hiatus, and remembered it being good. I forgot just how good it was! I don't know how DW/LH churns out so many awesome dark stories, but I love her for it!

I found this one to be a little disappointing. I like that we got to see through the cracks in Vasili's emotional armor, but I found his naivete about what Amir would do to be out of character. He's smarter than that.

Love the cover. I really liked the characters and wish the story was much longer so I could get to know them better.

Reminds me a lot of Stockholm Syndrome, both in the way it's written and the personalities of the main characters. Which means I loved it. Gave me all the feels, so it gets 5 stars from me.

Remus forgives Victor too easily IMO. I wanted to see more conflict over that betrayal because it's not believable to me otherwise. Also there was a contradiction in the Arthur/Prentice plotline as far as the timing of Prentice's ascension. Still enjoyed reading the book, but I was ultimately underwhelmed.

Not as interesting as the first one. Also frustrating because now I'm on team No One!

I'm enjoying the story, however the books don't seem to have their own plot or theme. It's more like it's one long book and is just being broken up at random spots. It's hard to explain, but I've read tons of series, and this one more than any other gives me this sense that they're just incomplete parts of a whole.

I think the writing could be better; it could definitely use another round of edits. Also, it bugs me that the children all talk like Gollum.

I'm going to have to read the next book when it comes out before I decide whether there are plot holes and figure out how I feel about Maddox and Vincent's relationship, as it were. I do love how dark and disturbing it is, though.

I'm not sure I've ever encountered a character who so frequently cuts off his nose to spite his face. It became so frustrating. I'm all for flawed characters, but this was just too much. Basically, Matt was abusive right up until he very suddenly wasn't, so the change just wasn't believable.

These books are like crack to me. I can't put them down.

Unique plot, though the science part was a little too convoluted at times. I liked Luca and Nox, and enjoyed the development of their relationship. There was plenty of action, though that got a little repetitive. Overall, good book, though the bonus chapter at the end made it pretty clear that this story is going in a direction I'm not really interested in following.

So dark, heavy, and intense. I'm in love with these characters, which makes it difficult to deal with their suffering, but at the same time, it makes the happy parts that much sweeter.
