Not at all what I'm looking for. I don't know why I even started this one

The humor is just not hitting right, and literally every character annoys the fuck out of me, so I guess I'm an even bigger grump than Gus. Klune is really hit or miss for me, and this one's a miss.

I can't believe it took me until book 3 to figure out that gender in this universe is completely independent of genitalia. I find it to be a really interesting concept of what life would be like in a world where everyone accepted it as completely normal to decide your own gender during childhood. Unfortunately, that was the only interesting thing about this book for me. The plot was otherwise quite dull and didn't hook me at all. The relationships in the first two books were much more fun because of the enemies to lovers aspect. Some conflict between the MCs would have spiced things up a bit.

I don't mind ridiculous plots as long as they're fun, but this one was ridiculous in an annoying way. The constant interruptions by relatives got old really fast, and just about everyone's personality grated on my nerves. The more I read, the more irritated I got, so I decided to quit before I entered one star territory.

Ugh, there are only so many babys I can take before I have to tap out. I also sense instalove on the horizon.

Finally going to admit I'm not going to finish this one. The writing wasn't bad, but there was far too much extraneous detail that should've been edited out. I liked the characters, but they hardly interacted at all, and the one part they did, it ended in f2b. So disappointing. Far too much focus on politics and not enough on relationship development. They're practically still strangers at the point where I lost interest.

I remember really liking Jocelynn Drake's m/f paranormal romance books back in the day, but either my taste has changed or she is phoning it in on this one, because I found the writing to be mediocre at best. The story was too boring and cliché to keep me interested, and neither of the characters appealed to me.
Least favorite of the series so far, and not even because of the beastiality. Can't put my finger on why, but it just didn't grab me. Maybe it's the lack of a strong emotional connection between the MCs. I'm far more interested in Pandora's story, but it looks like I've got to get through a few more books to get to his.

This book just isn't for me. It tries too hard to be funny, repeating every joke until it is long past gasping its last breath. I didn't find most of the humor to be funny anyway, because it's more on the silly/juvenile side rather than the clever/snarky type that I enjoy. I was too annoyed by this to get into the story, so I lost interest and had to force myself to get as far as I did.

Quitting while I'm ahead so I don't get angry for wasting my time finishing it. Adrien is too naive and submissive, and Heath is too creepy. I enjoyed the heat sex, but that's about all.

Not a good choice for something to get me back into reading regularly again, I'm afraid. Nothing really against the writing or the story; it just wasn't for me. I tend not to like historicals, I hate when a wife and child are involved in m/m stories, and flashbacks are a pet peeve, especially when they make up half the story.
Soooo, I clearly need to choose better next time.

BR with Tinka and Lo-Lo. I don't think any of us made it through this one.
My status update will serve as my review:
This book is unreadable. Nearly every sentence begins with a present participle phrase (-ing word), doesn't have commas, and is grammatically incorrect because the actions aren't happening simultaneously even though that's what's implied by the sentence structure. This is beyond annoying.
For example:
Hurrying to the bathroom I lugged a couple of bath towels out of the airing cupboard. Taking them back to the living room I thrust one at him. “Here, dry off a bit.” “Thanks.” Taking the towel he mopped his face and then rubbed it vigorously over his hair followed by his arms and legs.
I'm not exaggerating in saying that almost every sentence is structured this way. This is only part of the problem with the writing, but it's by far the most irritating.
I'll add that another issue with the writing was the inclusion of too many details, like the entire history of his apartment building and the process Simon went through to live there. Also, unless I read it wrong, which is entirely possible considering how bored I was by the details, the building used to be a bakery but was converted into luxury apartments. Why, then, was it constantly referred to as the bakery?? If it's no longer being used as a bakery, the equipment isn't even there anymore, and the building now serves an entirely different purpose, then it's not a fucking bakery.
Maybe this is a wonderful love story with a great slow burn, but I will never know because I cannot tolerate reading a book that's 90% grammatically incorrect. I gave it several chances and finally concluded that I will never be able to finish it.

Boring, no plot, the writing is too juvenile (I don't just mean the dialogue), and Wes doesn't sound like much of a catch to me. I'm being generous and giving it 2 stars.
DNF @ 53%The only impressive thing about this book is that it managed to put me off reading for three weeks, which none of the hundreds that came before it were capable of doing. I might have been ok, but when I took a break from this one to try [b:Given the Circumstances 18756550 Given the Circumstances Brad Vance https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1383743142s/18756550.jpg 26648795], it was equally as unenjoyable, so I just gave up. Honestly, I'm still not sure I'm in the mood to start a new book yet. I just want to get this off my reading list and out of my mind forever. It may take rereading [b:Captive Prince 9305362 Captive Prince Volume One (Captive Prince, #1) C.S. Pacat https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1356028113s/9305362.jpg 14188292] to purge the bad feelings I have about my kindle right now.I loathed the writing style of this book. It's ridiculously detailed, and not in a good way. Practically all details are completely unnecessary. Here's an example:Ben woke up Sunday morning at six. He stumbled into the kitchen and opened the fridge. He found stacks of plastic containers with everything from egg salad to fried chicken. He went to the cupboard and checked the cereal shelf. Two kinds of Cheerios (original and Apple Cinnamon), Froot Loops, Frosted Flakes, Corn Pops, some Raisin Bran, Special K, Rice Krispies, and Honey Smacks. And that was only the front row. He rummaged around behind and pulled out a box of Frosted Mini-Wheats, poured some into a bowl, and covered them with milk. He grabbed a spoon and headed for the living room, where he pulled out his iPad and started reading the Times and the Journal. He hadn't seen any news in three days.I'm just...Add in the fact that I didn't like any of the characters and that the relationship was not believable (Travis going from OTT straight good ole country boy to cock hungry bottom overnight was just ridiculous), and I was beyond done. Most of my friends loved this book, but it just goes to show how different tastes can be!

I'm bored, Jake is creepy as hell, and it's basically insta-love because the author skipped all the relationship development by starting the story with an established friendship and declaration of love. Then when they see each other again, it's another declaration of love and they're almost instantly fucking. It's just going to be a whole book of Sawyer being afraid to be found out, lots of fucking, and probably Jake saving him from a crazy fan or something.

I just can't with this book. The writing is driving me nuts with the endless mentions of lips being licked, chewed, bitten, wetted, etc. (144 times in the book according to my kindle), numerous references to the color of their eyes, and frequent headhopping. I finally threw my kindle down when the two adult MCs decided to get out of the car and play an impromptu game of tag in the pouring rain for absolutely no damn reason. This was my facial expression while reading that scene:
I then decided to check out other reviews to see if I'm the only one hating this and saw that the first sex scene is fade-to-black. Oh hell no. I'm done.

If this book still hasn't interested me after 109 pages, I don't think it's going to happen. The writing is fucking awful, and I'm reading the edited version. The constant and simplistic inner monologue of every character made me want to bang my head against the wall.
The fact that they were in both italics and quotation marks irritated me to no end. When the characters were speaking aloud, the dialogue was a weird mix of fantasy-appropriate (“Madam, you will kindly refrain from barging into my council, yelling like a common fishwife”) and modern speech (“Yeah”, “I'm on it”).
It seemed like a new made up fantasy name was introduced in every paragraph of the book. I appreciate the effort to build a complex world in which the story takes place, but it just didn't work.
The plot didn't interest me, and the behavior of the characters was so unrealistic that it was eyeroll-worthy. Even if they were being devious, as I assume Anaxantis was, it didn't make sense that his brother would be so easily fooled. I'm pretty sure I know where the story is going, but I can't be bothered to continue and find out if I'm right.

I tried, I really did, but I couldn't make myself read any further. This book is poorly written with terrible dialogue, unbelievable scenarios, and instalove. If I had to guess, I'd say it was written by a 16 year old girl, though I know that's unlikely.

It was ok, but I think it's a case of ‘it's not you, it's me' for a couple of reasons. First, I'd never heard of Blake's 7, so I had no frame of reference and all the names and places mentioned meant nothing to me. Secondly, while I don't dislike space themed stories, neither do I really like them. The story wasn't all that interesting to me. My reason for reading was for the relationship between the two men, and there just wasn't much interaction between them considering the length of the book.
I hate that my review is the first one for this book, given that it's not exactly positive, but maybe others will enjoy it.
