This was such a massive disappointment. I was so bored reading this. There were too many characters that were not fleshed out enough and there was way too much focus on the tech company. The only interesting part of this book for me ending up being the premise and even that fell flat with how much everything was dragged out for this book. I am very hesitant to pick up any other Ruth Ware books after reading this. I may finally read The Turn of the Key because so many love it, but this book does not make me want to read any other books by her.

So I have to admit, this is my first Colleen Hoover book, but it will not be my last. This book started out really weird and slow, but once I understood the premise better I was hooked. I also loved reading this from Leeds' perspective but now that I have finished it, I think Layla's would be fascinating but less intriguing. This kept me on the edge of my seat curious what was going to happen and how everything was going to turn out. I also really liked the short chapters of “The Interview” interwoven with the main storyline.

This was quite a disappointment after how much I enjoyed the first book. This book felt like filler. It took forever for something to happen and even then it still was just setting everything up. I feel like even the ending was overhyped by people and I was not blown away by any stretch. I'm definitely excited for book 3, but I'm concerned that this series has been expanded to more books because I'm not sure there is actually enough story to need that many books to tell. But hopefully, the overall story arch becomes more clear in the next book.
I do not want to get into who copied who with this book, but I was completely unable to fully enjoy this book because it was basically Vampire Academy. There are way too many similarities that make it impossible for me to separate them. I really enjoyed VA and this made it impossible to not compare when reading this. For me, the only true differences based on this first installment are the words used to describe things and the fact that it is mythology rather than vampires.
I will continue with the next book to see if the similarities continue but I'm very hesitant to say I enjoyed this book. It was a quick read and I did like the relationship between Aiden and Alex.

This had so much potential and I enjoyed the beginning. The middle dragged significantly for me. This book is almost 500 pages and has no reason to be that long. Then the ending completely ruined it for me. I will not be continuing with this series.
This book is probably my least favorite of the entire world. There is too much ridiculousness and a lot of the plot seems to be specifically for shock value. I also remember how terrible the ending cliffhanger was when I first read it when it came out. Now that I know what happens, I'm not concerned anymore. Luckily I can jump right into City of Glass one my continued read of the whole world this year.

This had the potential to be great but fell incredibly flat. For me, this is another case of an author who writes really good contemporary novels attempting to write a fantasy novel and failing. I will continue reading Adam Silvera novels but only his contemporary novels.
Fable was one of my favorite books of 2020 and it was one I wasn't even going to read but between the ACOBAF read-along and a friend pushing it, I finally picked it up. I was so excited to get an ARC of Namesake and be able to continue reading about West and Fable.
Namesake has a very different feel to me and the stakes are way higher. Fable was all about Fable finding her father and surviving, Namesake is all about Fable deciding who she is and what she wants. I loved that we got to learn more about old characters but also a new set of characters. The world was also expanded beyond the Narrows. I also loved that one of my favorite side characters from Fable had a big role to play in Namesake and Adrienne definitely gave him what he deserved in the end.
The plot of Namesake was so intricate and there were countless times I thought it was going in one direction, then all of a sudden we went somewhere else. I read this book in a single day and loved every minute of it. Adrienne Young has grown so much as a writer since her debut and I cannot wait to see what she writes next. Anyone who loved Fable will also love Namesake. And those who have not picked up this duology need to get on it ASAP.
Thanks to Netgalley for the review copy

Allan A Dale has always been my favorite Merry Man and I absolutely loved seeing Jenny Elder Moke's take on the Robin Hood legend. While we got to see the original Merry Men, the main focus was on their offspring including Isabelle, daughter of Marien and Robin Hood. It was so refreshing to see a story that stays true to the legend but also has its only story to tell. I loved watching Isabelle grow and learn about herself and how she fit into the world. This is Jenny Elder Moke's debut and I cannot wait to see what other stories she writes.

Best installment so far. This is definitely my favorite of all the books in this world. There was so much character growth for everyone. I also loved the addition of Adrian's POV. It made the story that much better to see his thoughts and feelings. Given the ending, it makes perfect sense why we need his POV going forward since we do not have a Rose and Lissa situation like in Vampire Academy.

This was a very refreshing read. I loved all the alchemy aspects. There were definitely some Stalking Jack the Ripper vibes to this book so if you enjoyed that one I would definitely have this on your radar. I did however appreciate that there was little to no romance in this book. Fantasy books lately always have romance and sometimes I just want the plot and the story no side romance also going on.

This book was quite a letdown for me. It started off with this fun adventure to save the kingdom and even though that is an overdone thing in YA fantasy right now, I was super interested in the woodcurse and I loved the idea of a girl and her fox friend saving the kingdom. But that excitement quickly dissipated and I was left creeped out by the budding romance in the story and that completely ruined it for me. I'm sure others will love it but it was so cringe worthy for me I couldn't do it. Not to mention how predictable this book was. I guessed what the big twist was about 15% into the book and there were no surprises. I also think the ending was rushed and everything worked out too perfectly for me to the point it was unbelievable.
Having now read two non-contemporary books by Ashely Poston, I can safely say for me she does not write enjoyable sci-fi or fantasy. I will stick to her contemporary books from now on.
I can see others enjoying and loving this book, but I was unfortunately not one of them. Thanks to the publisher for an early copy of the book!

A lot of people recommend this series and I was a little hesitant after the disappointment of Moon Called but this book was pleasantly surprising. Kate is a great main character who has so much sass and a mouth that can get her in trouble. I also loved the idea of magic in this book with the aspect of it coming and going. You have to always be prepared for the world to change in an instant. I'm super curious to see what else Kate gets up to in future books.

I really enjoyed this book. It was fascinating to see everything come together. I also loved how the book was broken up with each part being one trip of Kira's journey after her discovery. The characters in this were decent the writing is what I absolutely loved. The plot was very slow and I found myself wanting a faster paced novel at times but the writing and descriptions of everything were great. I rarely if ever read adult science ficition so I have nothing to compare this book too but I think if you are a fan of Christopher Paolini you will love this book.
I have really enjoyed almost every JLA book I've read. However, this is not one of them. I was really let down by this book. The premise was interesting and I loved the characters, especially Tink. But the storyline was a massive letdown. It was nauseatingly predictable and bland. The characters just kind of fell together and their relationship just magically became a thing (it wasn't even instalove, it was something else). I will continue this series simply because I want to learn more about Tink (granted I have a feeling we may not learn much more).

I got this in an Owlcrate box and I do not think I ever would have read it otherwise. This graphic novel had a great premise and I loved the characters but the story itself left much to be desired and I really didn't like the art style. Because I didn't like the art, I struggled with the rest of the story. Plus this is an incomplete comic/novel. You are left having no idea what happens.
