The Selection is an amazing book which I find more intriguing than the hunger games series. Its modern but not exaggerated. Not totally dramatic but has drama, funny and making you fall in love with all the characters. What was totally surprising was that the prince wasn't a jerk I couldn't believe it!! The main character is rational, smart, witty, and has character that draws you in and trapping you to want to root for her with you noticing the trap was sprung on you. Only bad thing: it was a debut book and the 2nd book of the series hasn't come out yet! >3.
This book started out annoying (as usually ‘cuz I don't like beginnings but) then it changed it was interesting and the character changed through a lot. You got to see her will. It is something I definitely wont forget and something that made me want to move forward.
It gave me strength/encouragement.
Cant wait for the next book.
Don't really want to read the first book just because i dont think I'll like it as much as this book.
This story is recreating not only Robin Hood but many other characters, Robin you recognize right away although his personality is a little different it isn't that much. The rest of the characters are totally beyond you can even predict but in an amazing way that you love these characters more than the ones that you are told of. Every one of these characters are driven in devotion for the good but act like outlaws. This book left me utterly speechless, astonished and slightly embarrassed I didn't realize who the main character was but then proud that she wasn't who I would have expected her to be if I had know.
My Opinion only.
OMG I LOVE THIS BOOK. Its sooo good. So funny and addictive but not like filled with passion this book is a light read that tugs you gently that allows you to stop whenever you want( basically sayings its not tooo suspenseful which is a good thing) but you don't really want to. A dream book some may dislike but I am head over heels with this book. The main character's character may be frustrating and may not connect with the readers sometimes but that's what great with it, it makes you enjoy the sidelines, love, love, love how the character is, accepting their faults and strengths and just waiting for them to strengthens their faults too. I think? Lol not quite sure this is a whole new level of experince similar to others but definitely the bar that sets it. This book is better than the hunger games series, its better than twilight(not that i read the book before XDD but i recall a little from the movie). Its has drama, its about vampires that are modern not shocking omg its scary, its reasonable, and chilling sometimes. Its an masterpiece that is found 1 in a hundred billion. There is hilarious parts, action, love of course, and friendship. This maybe my favorite book overall shock* did I just say that!?!). This book absolutely shined and it shined/showed my face.
P.S. My opinion
I love this book , i really want to buy it. This book starts out with twins, the girl twin is telling the story. She is trying to get her parents to get closer to them since they're seniors now and are going to leave soon, and since her parents haven't been home together even since her twin brother has been to the hospital with an illness. The good thing about the book is that its not to heavy, its realistic, and totally worthwhile. I totally want to make a time capsule.
The beginning got me hooked but the middle was confusing and at the climax i was totally surprised but it made sense how everything happened in the main characters life. But after the climax it went downhill.... Still an ok good read.
But was totally disappointed in the end, felt like it would have and could have been better.
I would like to watch the movie or play first then read it XD
I personally really loved it but some parts were too raw on my feelings and there were several stupid actions, but thats just how life goes.
Emerald City was started out as like a soft sad poem but then turned out to be a strong striving story. Slowly letting you feel the reason and logic of the main character. Then out of no where this guy saved her and continues to save her after she tries to kill herself. Making and supporting her to live her life. Although no matter how much that guy seems perfect he is hiding some things. From that point on it turns into a romantic, mysterious, suspenseful story. Ultimately making an story that I am touched by and will remember for a long time.
Well I watched the movie before the book and I gotta say the book entirely surprised me. A lot more content and how deep everything is.
Here come the spoilers and comparison from movie to book although I throughly enjoyed both. Might have to rewatch the movie I think it's her about at least 5 years since I watched the movie.
Percy is a troubled middle schooler who has been kicked out of many boarding schools due to unforeseen bad luck. Percy is sent to boarding school mostly to avoid his stepdad who is a horrible piece of a human and I use the word human loosely. That and to avoid the monsters tracking him down and killing him. Percy has ADHD and dyslexia which turns out to be a demigod sure sign. Turns out he gets restless and is a troubled kid cuz his senses are more than mere mortals and is ready for battles so therefore adults or supposedly human adults prescribe them ADHD to kept them medicated as for the dyslexia, all demigods are suppose to be reading and they natural understand read and speak Greek so English isn't their native language. Now the best best that unnoticed that was different from the movie was that Percy's mother is a smart resilient bad ass woman. She married Percy's stepfather because he was such a foul human being that his aura is so overbearingly horrible and sticks everywhere including cloaking Percy from the monster. She chose to stay with that garage to protect her son the best way she knew how. She even stood up to Poseidon and told him flat out(later to her son the same thing kindly of course) that she had to fight her own battles she couldn't let a god do that for her or her son. I loved how the book took us to Percy's reaction to his anger and understanding and wanting vengeance for him mother but trusting her to take care of herself. What I didn't like yet understood it was realistic is how Poseidon regretted Percy's birth and didn't know what to do with him but of course everyone is pretty much proud of him by near end of the book. I really prefer the movie version of course the movie version portrays a more controlling and sick with worried and extreme caution mother not that there is no valid reason for her to be like that but Percy's mother allowed Percy to choose to stay with her for the regular school year time or to remain at camp half blood. When she wrote that letter to Percy I was misty eyed at her love and understanding. Aries role in this book totally had me laughing in my head though this book portrays can't remember his name now but will edit it later let's say Gunther for now, Gunther the centaur is much more childlike even though he's 25!!!!!!!! So this book didn't have that whole hades been a rock band scene or a British accent(WAS TOTALLY LOOKING FOWSRD TO THAT PIUTS) or that Persephone scene coughs. But it did talk about his quest which is too long for me to recant. Read the book that's the point. It's very adventured paced aka something happens every chapter there are many jokes and twist and turns and heartstrings moments.
Superb book throughout it all even the beginning and I find those are hard to find.
Illl edit this later eyes dropping now.
I thought it wasn't that bad although a little slow paced in some parts. Rather different than i will would have thought the book would have turned out. But still a fun and exciting read different than what I usually read. Going to follow this series
I loved this book, officially my favorite. Very mysterious and maybe that's why it is my fave now cuz I haven't read a good book in sooo long(about 4 weeks) and it had many surprising events. Even though some things didnt make any sense in the book it's still a really good read. I totally want to Reread it again soon.
