This is the first time I have felt compelled to write an actual review but while I enjoyed this book I also found it very hard to follow. There are about 20 characters to keep track of and they are each referred to in several different ways at any given time based on first name, surname, role, house, speciality, etc. There is so much jargon and most of it goes unexplained. Ultimately though, much of that jargon also didn't seem to matter anyway so what was the point???

So, my eyes glazed over some parts when I lost the plot but overall it was a fun enough read.

This book was so damn good it made me rethink my rating scale for everything else I've read this year!!!!!!!!! I stand by all the books I've given 5 stars this year... but this and Mercy of the Gods are the fivest of them all

A lot of irrelevant and sometimes bizarre detail, often confusing, some bits feel kinda silly, extremely poor character development despite the length of the book, highly repetitive... but overall still pretty entertaining to read!

Disliked this more and more as I progressed. Full of unrealistic tropes and cliches in the plot, dialogue, and cast of characters. Last 30% in particular was a real slog
