Overall I liked this book. Having been written almost 15 years ago let me say that Baldacci has gotten much better at writing female characters. There are a few cringe moments in this book where the female characters feel very flat and two dimensional. But I thought the story was good and enjoyed how it wrapped up plot points from previous book with Maxwell.
Loved it. Wish there would be more volumes, I thought this was such a cool concept.
I wanted to love this so much, but I just couldn't. I felt like the plot was very weak and that they relied on fan service to carry a lot of the story. I would go back if they continued the story. But for the love of gosh I do not need any more cringy make out noises!!!!
I don’t know who this book is for. It is written for a very young reader, but all the references are for a Gen Xer. I wanted to like it- the premise was solid but the execution was so bad. I also did the audiobook, and as a Texan born and raised (in West Texas, 90 miles from where the protagonist grows up)- that accent was so over the top it was tough to listen to it.
