Initially, I thought this book was good, but not better than The Fall (Camus' best novel imo). The first four parts are a solid 3.5: not bad enough to make you regret reading, not good enough to make you happy you read it. The fifth part was beautiful. It killed me. I do wish I had read it before Covid, because I feel like me tying the book to my own experiences held me back from taking in the book for what it is.
