I finished this novel a few days ago and I'm still trying to come to terms with the fact that this story is over. While I was left slightly unsatisfied by the ending, I believe it was the most realistic conclusion we could have received. This was a long journey and one that took me through every emotion possible. The story, the characters, their relationships, the shocking plot twists, and everything in between makes it incredibly difficult to say goodbye and to ranwan they will always have a special place in my heart :)
Such a nice, short and fun read that had me laughing at each chapter. Shen qingqiu's thoughts & commentary have to be the most unhinged and funniest things ever. Luo Binghe has also become my favourite cause bro is so wholesome in the way he cares and respects SQQ. But rip to him going through his training arc in the abyss, hopefully we will see more of him in the second book.
I enjoyed this book a little more than the first book perhaps cause I grew more attached to the characters as the story went on. The plots progression has given the story more depth and it aint a goofy story no more but it remains entertaining and funny nonetheless. Luo Binghe has returned as a gigachad character actually an insane, demonic gigachad. Shen Qingiqu on the other hand continues to be one of the funniest characters I've read though he is an unreliable narrator. The miscommunication between them is really giving cat and mouse, the way Luo Binghe keeps chasing Shen Qingiqu but bro just keeps escaping. I still can't believe Gongyi Xiao died as a cannon fodder, bro deserved better. (T_T)
Leaving us at that ending should be illegal. This volume had me going through every emotion: sadness, confusion, mad, devastation and heartbroken. This book had a slow start but gradually got me hooked as things unfolded. The last half of the book made me feel like I was out of breath just by the amount of things that was revealed.
I still feel conflicted about Mo Ran's character. I know he heavily regrets his actions from his previous life and that he struggles coming in terms with his two identities. But, it confuses me to think how someone like Taxian Jun could ever be redeemable. The amount of traumatic and sinful things he has done is inexcusable but I hope that the next book might reveal some things that might change my opinion.
Chu Wanning on the other hand deserves so much more for everything he has been through. The reveal of his origins and everything that came after that had me so sad. If things keep going at the pace they are, I think my sanity and emotional wellbeing is at risk.
