I finished this novel a few days ago and I'm still trying to come to terms with the fact that this story is over. While I was left slightly unsatisfied by the ending, I believe it was the most realistic conclusion we could have received. This was a long journey and one that took me through every emotion possible. The story, the characters, their relationships, the shocking plot twists, and everything in between makes it incredibly difficult to say goodbye and to ranwan they will always have a special place in my heart :)
Leaving us at that ending should be illegal. This volume had me going through every emotion: sadness, confusion, mad, devastation and heartbroken. This book had a slow start but gradually got me hooked as things unfolded. The last half of the book made me feel like I was out of breath just by the amount of things that was revealed.
I still feel conflicted about Mo Ran's character. I know he heavily regrets his actions from his previous life and that he struggles coming in terms with his two identities. But, it confuses me to think how someone like Taxian Jun could ever be redeemable. The amount of traumatic and sinful things he has done is inexcusable but I hope that the next book might reveal some things that might change my opinion.
Chu Wanning on the other hand deserves so much more for everything he has been through. The reveal of his origins and everything that came after that had me so sad. If things keep going at the pace they are, I think my sanity and emotional wellbeing is at risk.
I enjoyed this book a little more than the first book perhaps cause I grew more attached to the characters as the story went on. The plots progression has given the story more depth and it aint a goofy story no more but it remains entertaining and funny nonetheless. Luo Binghe has returned as a gigachad character actually an insane, demonic gigachad. Shen Qingiqu on the other hand continues to be one of the funniest characters I've read though he is an unreliable narrator. The miscommunication between them is really giving cat and mouse, the way Luo Binghe keeps chasing Shen Qingiqu but bro just keeps escaping. I still can't believe Gongyi Xiao died as a cannon fodder, bro deserved better. (T_T)
Such a nice, short and fun read that had me laughing at each chapter. Shen qingqiu's thoughts & commentary have to be the most unhinged and funniest things ever. Luo Binghe has also become my favourite cause bro is so wholesome in the way he cares and respects SQQ. But rip to him going through his training arc in the abyss, hopefully we will see more of him in the second book.
Loved, loved, this book especially coming from the last book which left me all sad from the angst. This book was pure joy with all the fluffy scenes and mutual pining. Mo Ran's character develops significantly and I can confidently say he has become one of my fav characters. I love how these two idiots are so blatantly in love with each other but the other is so oblivious to it. It's quite comical to read at times and has me giggling and smiling. We also see an unexpected side to Chu Wanning whose dignified front is slowly cracking as his lust and desire grows for Mo Ran. This dude always be blushing and stuff whenever Mo Ran gets too close or does something. Mo Ran on the other hand tries his best to treat Shizun respectfully, despite his growing desire lmao. I also enjoyed the funny encounters between these two i.e when they were out in the farm, sparring or travelling together. In saying that, this book feels like the last time where I'll be happy cuz the next couple books feel like they will be utter doom. The only thing I wish this book had was more plot progression. I felt that we only got a progression in plot in the last few chapters but I equally enjoyed reading the lighthearted scenes of RanWan so it wasn't too much of a con.
Enjoyed this a little bit more than the previous book (The housemaid) because the previous book I found to be a little predictable. I did half guess the initial plot twist but the ending of this book was indeed satisfying and I wasn't expecting who the killer was. Some parts of the book were quite repetitive and felt like I was reading the same part again and again. i.e. her mixed feelings for Brock and such. In saying that, Brock does deserve better because that man gave his all to keep this relationship going but Millie considering the circumstances gave him barely anything in return. I also grew to sort of liked Millie's and Enzo's character and their development was quite nice. Overall, enjoyable and quick read but it doesn't offer more than that.
The plot of the story overall is alright but it was a little predictable for me. I wasn't particularly a fan of the writing style either. It was however a quick and fast read for a thriller book. I think the ending could've been fleshed out a little more as it seemed like a lot happened but little was said. Overall, I still enjoyed the book.
The Husky and His White Cat Shizun: Erha He Ta De Bai Mao Shizun (Novel), Vol. 3

This book has to be my fav out of the three so far. There was a lot of character development from Mo Ran which was finally great to see. It got really emotional and sad halfway thru the book and that's when you see the most change is Mo Ran's character. His appreciation towards Chu Wanning now is so wholesome. Meanwhile Chu Wanning is still in denial that Mo Ran likes him lmao. Shi Mei on the other hand feels a little suspicious and I'm not sure if he is jealous of what Mo Ran and Chu Wanning have or if he is scheming something. Smol Chu Wanning was also adorable and him and Mo Ran's interaction were so funny and cute haha. Overall, really enjoyed and made me tear up at a lot of moments in the book.
The Husky and His White Cat Shizun: Erha He Ta De Bai Mao Shizun (Novel), Vol. 2

The last chapter of this book has left me more curious as to who the mysterious person is behind all of it. I liked the progression of Mo Ran's and Chu Wanning's relationship. Especially how Chu Wanning became more soft towards Mo Ran and started to show more care towards him. Some parts where really wholesome and funny which I liked. I can't wait to read the third book to find out more especially with they way we left things off.
I didn't think I would enjoy reading this book as much but I was genuinely surprised. The ending makes me want to continue reading and I'm intrigued on how Mo Ran's character will develop. The book is also unexpectedly funny at times too. Chu Wanning is also an intresting character because he appears cold, isolated and basically struggles with showing emotion and is sort of like an outcast but the more we learn about him the more I sympathise with him. Mo Ran on the other is absolutely unhinged and says the most out of pocket things and at times he is frustrating to read because of how he acts. Overall, enjoyed the book and am excited to read volume 2.
The book felt very dry and maybe it was the writing or my lack of interest towards these characters but it felt tiring and boring to get through this book. I tried to push myself to read more but found myself skipping over some parts just so I can finish it. The story has an interesting premise though but just was not engaging enough for me to invest my time in.
